The Music and Choir Club is already an established project for the Blue Bus in that the children sing in the choir and have already performed in the Artscape Theatre on 27 April 2022 (together with the Drama Club) during the Suidooster Arts Festival in Cape Town.

As the youth of Delft are very talented, the next phase in their musical development will be to play various instruments.  Classes have already commenced in July 2022 (reading of notes) and the learners started practicing on recorders.

The learners will be taught new skills through professional instrument teaching and we aim to see our own orchestra and band formed. Ultimately we are anticipating the learners will go onto to choose music for further studies after completing High School. We are opening the doors of possibility to these under resourced learners, that have no options like this currently.

We have already been invited to performing in many places such as festivals and Artscape, which will boost the self esteem of our learners, as well as teaching them performance skills. We have seen that an overall positive mental health and flourishing (high levels of well-being); and, high well-being is associated with the higher probability to achieve life goals and contribute to flourishing families, communities as well as a safe and supportive South African society.
