SUCCESS CLUB

The aim of Success Club Projects is to better the school success of our secondary school learners’ in Delft.
A Success Club per school consists of a small group of selected top academic performers in grade 11 to partake in this programme of 20 weeks (February to November). Success Clubs meet once a week at their school with a trained facilitator and a scientifically designed and evaluated programme is used.
One of the goals of the Success Club Project is to equip our learners in such a way to better their chances for future studies, e.g. university/TVET/learner-ships.
The real-life stories of our Delft students who completed their studies and/or after-school training successfully, serve as a strong motivation for learners to follow their dreams with passion and perseverance.
Story of Success

Riejaad, Riejaaz and Carlo were part of Blue Bus Community Ministries (BBCM) projects in Delft since 2011. The 5 years of secondary school namely, 2011 – 2015 they took part in most of the BBCM
projects offered such as “Positive Principle Project”; Reading Room Club; Music Club (choir singing); Kings Club (healthy manhood) and Masters Club (to strengthen youth to not partake in risk behaviours such as substance abuse.
When these adolescent learners were in Grade 11 in 2014 the BBCM started for the first time with Success Club, since it became clear that the learners needed guidance about successful studies and the importance of marks in grade 11. Riejaad, Riejaaz and Carlo completed their school education with success – as the first members of their families to achieve this milestone.
2016 to 2019, Riejaad, Riejaaz and Carlo studied at different South African Universities; and each completed their B.Ed. (four years course) successfully. Apart from academic success they managed to overcome the immense difficulties associated with a serious lack of financial resources and adapting to campus life which was quite different to their previous exposure of living in a high-risk community and the negative impact of enduring poverty.
As students they were still part of Success Club, which entailed sustained support and contact on a monthly basis, such as financial support and by giving feedback by means of their monthly progress reports. Also, Riejaad and Carlo who studies at universities close to Delft took part in BBCM projects, with Riejaad as a project leader for Success Club at Voorbrug Secondary School. Carlo was involved in the BBCM’s choir and he took part in all our performances as a solo singer.
In 2020 Riejaad, Riejaaz and Carlo started their careers as educators at different schools in the Delft community. Riejaad (Voorbrug High), Riejaaz (De Hague High); and, Carlo (Hindle Road West Primary School) were looked-for educators, since their stories of triumph and great achievement are well- known in this high-risk community.
